Now, app to address grievances at doorstep in Melukote

Mandya: In a pioneering move to streamline governance and make public service delivery more accessible, Melukote MLA Darshan Puttannaiah inaugurated a new mobile application aimed at resolving public grievances efficiently. The launch took place during a programme titled ‘Don’t Come to Govt Offices–The Office Will Come to Your Doorstep,’ organised by the Dudda gram panchayat in Melukote.The MLA explained that the newly-developed app enables citizens to submit grievances directly. Once entered, the issues are monitored and addressed by the relevant authorities. “There are over 1,310 households in the Dudda gram panchayat, and officials have already visited nearly 90% of them, collecting data and entering concerns into the app,” said Darshan. He highlighted a common issue: 80% of the public are reluctant to submit formal complaints, while only 20% approach the MLA’s office or govt departments. “This app bridges that gap and ensures govt services reach people at their doorsteps,” he noted. Emphasising the need for a mindset shift among officials who act only upon receiving formal applications, he said, “This app ensures that even informal submissions are taken seriously and acted upon.” Darshan personally received grievances from attendees and issued immediate instructions to officials concerned for resolution.Farmers raised the issue of missing access roads to agricultural fields. Though shown on maps, many such paths have been encroached. “These encroachments will be cleared,” he assured. He pointed out that many villages still lack crematoriums, even after 76 years of Independence. The govt will examine RTC land records, and if land earmarked for crematoriums has been encroached upon, strict action will follow.Mandya tahsildar Vishwanath said that this was the seventh such programme. “Earlier, people had to shuttle between multiple offices—PDOs, VRIs, and others—to resolve issues. Now, officials visit citizens directly,” he said, encouraging residents to utilise the initiative fully. Taluk panchayat executive officer Lokesh Murthy added that a two-week drive is under way to resolve village-level issues across the region. “Our goal is to reduce the burden on citizens. Instead of them coming to us, we are going to them,” he said.
