Nikhil criticises Congress govt for neglecting farmers and development

Chikkamagaluru: JD(S) Youth Wing state president Nikhil Kumaraswamy took exception against the Congress govt and charged that the govt is not in a position to supply fertilisers to farmers. He claimed that agriculture minister N Cheluvarayaswamy has fallen into a deep sleep. He was addressing the gathering during the JD(S) membership drive of the Sringeri assembly constituency in Koppa on Thursday. The state govt and the agriculture minister have no concern for the farming community. When Union minister HD Kumaraswamy was the chief minister, transformers were installed for just Rs 25,000, but today the govt charges Rs 2.5 lakh, he said.Nikhil strongly opposed forest minister Eshwar Khandre’s order prohibiting cattle grazing in the state’s forest areas and said these irresponsible statements can result in the collapse of govt’s administration. “In the Sringeri constituency, roads were full of potholes everywhere. The govt turned bankrupt to fix them,” he mocked. Many people have built houses here, but they have not been given title deeds. In no way have the Congress legislators shown any commitment to the development of the constituency, he criticised. Highlighting the death of a residential school girl, Shamitha, he said he would bring the issue to the notice of Kumaraswamy and assured a transparent investigation. The court instructed to conduct zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat elections, but the govt lacks the confidence to hold elections. The Congress is looting people’s money, he criticised the Congress. Congress held a Sadhana Sammelan in Mysuru, but the Congress should answer what achievements have been made in the state. “For the Congress govt, political infighting is more important than the development of the state,” he criticised.
