Mysureans allege administrative collapse, misuse of e-khatas | Mysuru News
Mysuru: Alleging that Lokayukta raids and a trap exposed the collapse of the administration in Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) and newly formed Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), the residents of the city urged CM Siddaramaiah to streamline the administration.They urged the CM to intervene to clear confusion surrounding the e-khatas. According to the city residents, for the last few months, the e-khatas became an easy tool for ULB and MCC officials to “fleece” the property owners. “E-khatas are helping a section of officials to make easy money,” they accused. “If we raise any issue from streetlights to stray dog menace, the common answer given to us is that there are no funds. For e-khatas, they have the ready-made answer of the server being down. With no elected representatives in place, there is no one to hear our grievances,” claims Shesha Gowda, a resident from Sharadadevinagar.“There is no respect given to the public by the officials. With senior officials failing to monitor the situation, the entire system has collapsed,” he alleged.Former mayor M Shivakumar echoed a similar view. He said there is no control over the administration. “No officers are listening to their seniors. As a result, chaos prevails in the MCC,” he alleged. “In all the states from Telangana to Haryana, the e-khatas are issued within a week’s time. But in Mysuru, due to the software issues, it is helping the corrupt to amass huge wealth,” he alleged.Blaming the Municipal Reform Center for the current technical crisis, he urged the state govt to intervene immediately. “As e-khatas have been made compulsory for property buying, selling, etc., the server down problem has become an easy tool to exploit the public,” he alleged.Meanwhile, KPCC spokesperson M Lakshmana informed that he will raise the issue with the chief minister. “This chaos is bringing a bad name to the govt,” he said.
