Karnataka’s Kodagu Tiger Rescue Operation Ends with No Sightings | Mysuru News
MADIKERI: Forest officials suspended a seven-day combing operation to rescue a tiger after it was not spotted in camera traps, despite efforts using jumbos amid rainy conditions.In response to the tiger’s continuous attacks on farmers’ livestock in Kodagu, senior officials from the Forest Department established a camp at Bellur Govt Higher Primary School near Hudikeri. They utilised Bhima and Mahendra from Mathigodu elephant camp in Nagarahole Tiger Reserve to conduct the operation.The search commenced in the Devarakadu forest area surrounding Hudikeri and the coffee plantation where the tiger’s pugmarks were found. Forest Department Medical Officer Dr Ramesh and the department’s anesthetist Ranjan were also present to capture the tiger.Thithimathi ACF Gopal Ponnampet range Forest Officer Shankar and Virajpet DFO Jagannath participated in the operation.
