Kalaburagi: Madbul police cracked the murder case of an elderly woman by arresting five persons, including a juvenile, on Sunday night.SP A Srinivasulu said that Jagadevi Lali, 78, was murdered in her house in Pethashirur village, Chittapur taluk, on July 10. “Accused persons Tanaji Manappa Bandagar, 25, Vijaykumar Revanasiddappa Karegol, 23, Sanjeevkumar Hanumantaraya Karegol, 25, Laxmikant Talavar, 24, and a 17-year-old juvenile have been arrested. They tried to project it as a natural death by strangling her and making the body appear to be sleeping. However, some villagers suspected that it was an unnatural death. When Madbul police conducted a spot mahazar and technical verification, it was suspected to be a murder,” he added.He further said: “The accused persons stole cash of Rs 21,000 and some jewellery. This case could have gone unregistered, and the accused could have continued such offences if it was not registered.”
