India vs England Live Score, 5th Test Match Day 4: India’s 23-year-old opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his fourth test century against England, reaching 118 runs on Day 3 of the fifth and final test at the Oval in London on Saturday. His performance, despite being dropped three times, helped India set a challenging victory target of 374 for England as India aims to level the series 2-2.

India posted 396 in their second innings, with Jaiswal’s century being his second hundred of the series. He celebrated his milestone after turning his 127th ball to point, marking the moment with a leap and heart-shaped gesture with his fingers.

England began their chase but lost Zak Crawley, who was bowled by Mohammed Siraj for 14 runs in the day’s final delivery. Ben Duckett remained unbeaten on 34 as England finished at 50-1 at stumps.

Nightwatchman Akash Deep contributed significantly with a career-best 66 runs, forming a 107-run partnership with Jaiswal for the third wicket. Ravindra Jadeja continued his strong batting performance with 53 runs.

Washington Sundar provided late innings fireworks, scoring 53 runs off 46 balls, including four sixes. His aggressive batting helped boost India’s total considerably.

India captain Shubman Gill, despite scoring only 11 runs, achieved a remarkable series milestone by accumulating 754 runs, surpassing Graham Gooch’s 1990 record of 752 runs in an India-England series.

England’s fielding performance was notably poor, with six dropped catches. This equaled their highest number of dropped catches in a home test since 2006 against Pakistan at the same venue.

The home team’s bowling attack faced additional challenges due to the absence of Chris Woakes, who suffered a serious shoulder injury on Day 1.

England, known for successfully chasing large fourth-innings totals since Brendon McCullum became head coach in 2022 and introduced the ‘Bazball’ era, faces a significant challenge in their pursuit of 374 runs.
