Harry Brook has been England’s most dangerous presence at the crease so far on Day 4 of the fifth and final Test, pushing India onto the back foot with his aggressive approach. But one moment in particular summed up the dramatic swings in this match and left India pacer Prasidh Krishna red-faced. In the 35th over of England’s chase, Brook top-edged a pull shot off Prasidh and the ball went high into the air. Mohammed Siraj at long leg took the catch cleanly, prompting Prasidh to break into celebration. The pacer stretched his arms out wide in triumph, walking in front of Brook as if the contest had turned. However, he had missed one crucial detail. Siraj, in the act of completing the catch, had taken a step back and touched the boundary cushions with his foot and then crossed it altogether. That meant it wasn’t a wicket, but rather, six runs. Brook, fully aware of the situation, calmly walked back to the crease, while Prasidh’s face quickly turned to one of disappointment. His celebration abruptly ended as he realised what had happened. Siraj, too, had his hands on his head in disbelief, visibly frustrated at his misjudgment. However, things remained jovial between Siraj and Prasidh as the two shared an embrace at lunch. The moment summed up a difficult phase for India, as Brook continued to chip away at the target. England need a win to seal the series 3-1, while India are fighting to level it 2-2.
