Kushtagi (Koppal): B Kishan Rao, a senior advocate and freedom fighter from the Hyderabad Liberation movement, passed away on Sunday, at the age of 99. Born on Feb 16, 1926, in the village of Hirebannigol, Kishan Rao became active in the Hyderabad freedom struggle during his student years. He collaborated with fellow freedom fighter Bhimajja Muradi and contributed to the Gajendragad camp, raising awareness against the Razakars of the Hyderabad Nizam. After independence, Kishan Rao continued his education and entered the legal profession in 1955. In 1983, the govt acknowledged him as a freedom fighter, and he received numerous awards and honours throughout his life. He passed away on Sunday due to health complications related to ageing.
