Former gram panchayat vice-president hacked to death at dhaba in Karnataka | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: A 45-year-old former vice-president of Acchalu gram panchayat was hacked to death in a dhaba on Kanakapura Road at Sathanur in Ramanagar district Saturday night. The deceased is Nanjesh of Honganidoddi village in Kanakapura taluk.According to police, Nanjesh was dining with friends at 8.30pm when a group of four to five men at another table attacked him with machetes. The assailants, who are still at large, fled the spot soon after. Police suspect the attack was premeditated, as the gang reportedly came armed and knew of Nanjesh’s visit to the dhaba.Nanjesh sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died around midnight. Based on a complaint filed by his son, Sathanur police have registered a case of murder and formed a special team.An officer said Nanjesh had a recent dispute over a plot of land in his village and had been involved in an altercation over the issue just days earlier. “We have clues on the accused persons, and arrests will be made soon,” the officer added.
