Fitness camp for cops concludes

Udupi: The 30-day free ‘Navachetana Camp’ organised for 71 selected police officers and personnel from Udupi district to help them attain better physical and mental health concluded on Wednesday. The camp, which began on July 1, was held at Soukhyavana, the SDM Yoga and Nature Cure Hospital, Pareeka.The participants underwent an hour of dynamic yoga training every morning, led by trainers from Soukhyavana. This was followed by an hour of physical training by instructors from the Police Training School. The department of youth empowerment conducted fitness training, and Swag Dance Academy held Zumba sessions. Experts from various fields gave health-related lectures, and a nature walk was conducted every evening. Physiotherapy and steam baths were provided to those who needed them.All participants were served only diet food throughout the camp. The camp concluded successfully after 30 days, with the valedictory function held at Ammani Ramanna Shetty Memorial Auditorium, Udupi. Film actor Pramod Shetty and international sportsperson Abhin Devadiga from Udupi were the chief guests. The event was presided over by SP Hariram Shankar. Additional SP Sudhakar Nayak, Shantivana Trust’s Seetharam Tholpadithaya, and CMP Dr Gopal Poojary also took part. Camp participants shared their experiences and were honoured along with the trainers.In total, participants lost 500 kg of weight, with each individual reducing an average of seven kg. There was also a marked reduction in BMI, blood pressure, and sugar levels among the attendees, SP said.
