DGP Mohanty in Mangaluru for mass burial case

Mangaluru: DGP (Internal Security Division) Pronab Mohanty, who is leading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up to investigate the Dharmasthala mass burial case, was here on Sunday. The DGP reportedly interacted with district officials, including Dakshina Kannada SP Arun K, and visited the IB in the city, where senior SIT officers began their investigation on Saturday.Meanwhile, the complainant-witness appeared before the SIT for the second consecutive day. He was seen arriving in a car around 10.15 am, with his face covered and accompanied by three lawyers. He spent the entire day at the office before leaving around 6.30 pm with his legal team.Later in the evening, Mohanty, along with senior officers MN Anucheth and Simon CA, visited the SIT office in Belthangady as part of the ongoing inquiry. In the first week of July, the complainant-witness, who sought protection, offered to provide crucial details about the perpetrators and the sites where the bodies were allegedly disposed of. The Dharmasthala police registered a case on July 4. Following this, the govt issued an order on July 19, constituting an SIT.
