Mangaluru: Congress MLC Ivan D’Souza said that the BJP misused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for political purposes, disregarding the country’s Constitution. In response, a protest will be organised against the BJP, he told reporters here on Saturday.“The BJP is not fit to govern the country. The Supreme Court highlighted the misuse of the ED, which exposed the BJP’s true nature. The name of CM Siddaramaiah’s wife was misused in the Muda scandal through the ED. There was no money laundering or financial transactions in the Muda case. So, how can accusations be made against the CM’s wife?” he questioned.The ED has no right to intervene in civil cases, as affirmed by the Supreme Court, the MLC said. “Given this, how is the ED investigating Congress leaders like DK Shivakumar and G Parameshwara? We will approach the court against the central govt for misusing the ED,” he said.Accusing Union home minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi of being directly responsible, the MLC insisted that if JD(S) and BJP leaders have any sense of honour, they should apologise, and those in power should resign.“After the state govt implemented the five guarantees, the per capita income of the state’s people increased. The finance minister stated this in writing in the Lok Sabha. Let the BJP explain where the people have suffered due to the guarantee schemes, as they claim?” he said.He questioned why Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, leader of opposition in council, and R Ashoka, leader of opposition in assembly, are silent.
