Bengaluru heist in 18 seconds: Armed robbers threaten staff at gunpoint, flee with 150 grams of gold

BENGALURU: It took just 18 seconds for three masked men, one carrying a gun, to loot 150 grams of gold ornaments from a shop in Madanayakanahalli near Nelamangala, Bengaluru Rural, late Friday night.The incident occurred at Sri Ram Jewellers at Machohalli Gate on Magadi Road around 9pm. Shop owner Kannaiah Lal and his associate were busy placing the gold ornaments on different trays, a regular task before placing the trays in the safe. These items are displayed in showcases during the day.The CCTV footage of the shop shows one of the miscreants threatening Lal and his associate at gunpoint. Lal stepped back in shock while his assistant squatted in a corner. The miscreants grabbed gold from trays and hastily dumped them into a white bag. Lal and his associate are seen making futile attempts to stop them.Miscreants suspected to have used toy gun: PoliceIn his complaint, Lal told Madanayakanahalli police the miscreants took away 180 grams of gold. However, the bills produced by him for the stolen items were only for 150 grams, an investigating officer said. Preliminary investigation revealed the suspects came on a motorbike and fled towards Magadi. “We suspect the miscreants used a toy gun, and we have formed special teams to trace and nab them,” police said.
