Ambulance driver found dead in Kumaradhara River

MANGALURU: An ambulance driver who was reported missing was found dead in the Kumaradhara River on Friday. The deceased is Honnappa Gowda. In a complaint, Keshava, residing in Kadaba taluk, said that his elder brother, Honnappa Gowda, was living with his family in Devaragadde, Subrahmanya village, for the past 20 years and was working as a driver for the ambulance at the Subrahmanya Primary Health Centre.On July 22, as usual, Honnappa left home around 9 am for duty. He went to the hospital but reportedly applied for leave and left the hospital premises. However, even by the afternoon, he did not return home. Concerned, Honnappa’s wife filed a missing person complaint at the Subrahmanya Police Station.It was later learnt that Honnappa went towards the banks of the Kumaradhara River. A search operation was launched involving the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), expert swimmer Eshwar Malpe, and local villagers. During this search, a dead body was found in the waters of the Kumaradhara River at Parvatamukhi in Subrahmanya village on Friday. The family identified the body as that of Honnappa Gowda. Accordingly, the Subrahmanya Police Station registered a case under Section 194 of BNS.
