AICC plans to bifurcate DK DCC

Mangaluru: KPCC vice-president and Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee in-charge, MC Venugopal, said that there are plans to divide the District Congress Committee (DCC) of Dakshina Kannada into rural and urban wings. He told reporters on Saturday, that the Mahila Congress in the district has been divided into two units—Mangaluru City and Mangaluru Rural, as per AICC’s direction. Similarly, the division of power within the DCC in the district is also under consideration. He said that a decision from KPCC and AICC is yet to be made on this matter. He criticised the BJP for questioning the state’s ambitious guarantee schemes, stating that it is impossible to claim that these schemes have not reached anyone or that they are false. These schemes have reached everyone without discrimination of party, caste, or community, and the govt’s expenditures serve as evidence, he said.Regarding the election to Kadaba Town Panchayat, he said nominations will be filed on Aug 5. Preparatory meetings and discussions have been held to ensure the party’s victory in the elections for the 13 wards. Discussions will also focus on what kind of programmes should be formulated to bring the party to power in the upcoming taluk panchayat, zilla panchayat, and municipal elections, he said.“District minister Dinesh Gundu Rao is maintaining continuous contact with officials and district leaders. Being the health minister, Rao has been planning programmes to address diseases that affect the district during the monsoon. A harmony meeting has been conducted to control the situation that caused unrest due to misunderstandings between religions in the district. New officials who have taken charge in the district have taken strict measures against any party or individuals attempting communal riots. The party will extend full support to their actions,” he added. No confusion in party: Venugopal“Chief minister Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar are two sides of the same coin. Both have maintained a connection with the common people and have formulated programmes. In politics, everyone aspires for opportunities. Neither ministers KN Rajanna nor Satish Jarkiholi have made any statements about a change in the chief minister position. Even Siddaramaiah himself has said that he would continue in the post for five years, but is committed to the party high command’s decision. Therefore, there is no confusion within the party. The BJP is creating confusion,” Venugopal said responding to a query.
