Mysuru: A woman sustained serious wounds on her face and hands in a blast after she accidentally crushed a ball-like article at her village home in Hunsur on Friday. Kamalamma, 56, of Huyilalu village in Hunsur is being treated at the govt-run KR Hospital for injuries sustained in the blast. Bilkere police have taken up a case under provisions of the Explosives Act. According to police, Kamalamma stayed at a farmhouse in the village, but she came to clean her house in the village around 7.30am on Friday. While cleaning the front yard of the house, the woman found a cover full of ball-like objects. Unaware of the danger, she picked up one ball and crushed it with a stone, which resulted in a blast. Explosives that are rolled into small balls are kept in farms to hunt boars.Police said they are yet to identify the explosive and its source. Kamalamma’s condition is stable. Superintendent of police N Vishnuvardhana visited the spot.
