Absconding theft accused held in Mangaluru after skipping court since 2022; had ignored multiple warrants | Mangaluru News

MANGALURU: An accused who had been absconding since 2022 was arrested by Uppinangady police on Tuesday. The accused, Yatiraj (34), is a resident of Manjeshwar in Kasaragod.According to police, Yatiraj was booked in 2021 under Section 379 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He went into hiding in 2022 during the trial and failed to appear in court despite nearly seven warrants being issued against him.On 22 July, Uppinangady police arrested him and produced him before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.Police added that Yatiraj is also involved in several vehicle theft cases registered in Puttur Town, Bantwal Town, and Venur Police Stations. In total, around seven cases are registered against him at Konaje, Kavoor, and Vittal Police Stations.
