Bidar police intensify search for MLA’s son accused of rape

Bidar: Bidar police have intensified search for Prateek Chavvan, who is accused in a rape case. The teams, under the guidance of SP Pradeep Gunti, have expanded their search for Prateek, who is the son of BJP MLA Prabhu Chavvan from Aurad constituency, to the neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Telangana.When the police teams visited the accused’s residence in Aurad, they found the premises vacant. Additionally, attempts to contact Prateek on his mobile phone were futile as it remained switched off.The case, registered at Bidar women’s police station on July 20, stemmed from allegations made by a woman from Udgir, Maharashtra. According to the complaint, the accused allegedly committed the offence under the false promise of marriage.Pradeep Gunti said the special teams, headed by Bhalki DSP Shivanand Pavadshetty and women’s police station CPI Ramappa Savalagi, are conducting thorough searches at possible hideouts and examining all potential leads. Police are also coordinating with their counterparts in the neighbouring states to track down the accused.Local authorities have assured that all necessary measures are being taken to apprehend the accused. They have also requested the public to come forward with any information that might assist in the investigation. Police have emphasised that any information shared will be kept confidential.Police have stated that the investigation will proceed according to law, regardless of the accused’s family background or political connections.
