Ballari: Ten individuals were arrested in connection with the assault on an individual, Doddabasava, 19, which took place on Aug 1 at the ITI College grounds near Radio Park in the city.The attack was provoked by Doddabasava sharing a photo with the sister of one of the assailants on his WhatsApp status, leading to a violent reaction. SP Dr Shobharani VJ said that a case was filed at the Kaul Bazaar police station on Friday regarding the assault.Following the discovery of a video documenting the assault, the police investigation team was able to swiftly apprehend the suspects, namely, Shivakumar, Thimmappa, Mahesh, Dhananjaya, Suleman Raj, Shekhar, Santosh, Karthik, Chetan, and Prem Nayak.As the footage of the assault was circulated widely on social media, the police department treated the case with utmost seriousness. All those arrested are college students who arrived on motorcycles, forcibly dragged Doddabasava, and brutally assaulted him with a cricket bat and a belt.The victim sustained severe injuries to his lip, jaw, back, chest, ribs, and waist as a result of the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital.
