Centre will extend support for development of Kodagu: Yaduveer | Mysuru News

Madikeri: The Union govt will extend cooperation for the preservation of the environment and culture of Kodagu, Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar said. He spoke after inaugurating the Kodagu Vision discussion programme.Homestays, which provide an opportunity to experience the unique hospitality culture of Kodagu, are also helpful to the local economy. MP Yaduveer said that everyone should take care of preserving Kodagu in its original form by carefully preserving the Ain Mane culture found only in the district.The Kudlur Industrial Area in Kodagu will allocate substantial space for new industries. The suggestion was made to utilise this space for district development, while concerns of coffee entrepreneurs were presented to the assembly.G Chidvilas, while leading a discussion, advocated for increased domestic consumption of Kodagu-grown coffee. He suggested implementing coffee facilities in the Indian Army and requested basic amenities at Kodagu tourist spots. Regarding the railway ticket booking centre, he said it will be provided in the city. The authorities are looking for locations, he added.Kodagu District Chamber of Commerce president BR Nagendra Prasad voiced concern that the delay in the railway project that would benefit everyone has not yet been implemented. He brought to the attention of the MP the issue of there being no ESI Hospital in Kodagu district, which has a large number of workers.Yaduveer said that the survey work of the railway connection routes to the district was completed and the necessary ‘land acquisition’ process should be done for the implementation of the project. The delay in this work by the state govt is the reason why the railway project is not being implemented on time. If state govt carries out the land acquisition process, the centre will take necessary steps for railway connectivity. Similarly, necessary talks will be held with the centre’s civil aviation minister for the establishment of an airport in the district, he said.
