Min announces dedicated township for Ambedkar Layout residents in Mysuru | Mysuru News

Mysuru: Social welfare minister and Mysuru district minister HC Mahadevappa on Sunday announced that 20 acres will be identified to establish a dedicated township for residents of Ambedkar Layout in Ashokapuram, addressing their housing challenges.Speaking at BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary celebration at Ambedkar Bhavan on Ashokapuram’s 13th Cross, he highlighted the difficulties faced by the area’s working class residents due to population growth.The minister assured that consultations with the tahsildar and Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) officials are under way to locate suitable land within or on the outskirts of the city.He emphasised chief minister Siddaramaiah’s commitment to Ashokapuram’s development, ensuring adequate funding for the project. “Additionally, Rs 1 crore has been allocated for renovating the community hall, and Rs 20 crore approved for completing Ambedkar Bhavan,” he said.Former MLA MK Somashekar urged people to be cautious against attempts to undermine India’s secular principles. He advocated for scientific thinking and constitutional awareness to empower communities.
