Mangaluru: Deputy commissioner Darshan HV instructed that various departments must diligently fulfil their responsibilities to successfully celebrate the Independence Day event organised by the district administration on Aug 15. He presided over a preparatory meeting held at the district collector’s office on Friday, regarding the Independence Day celebrations.The DC emphasised that as in previous years, this year’s Independence Day should be conducted grandly and without any shortcomings, with all departments working responsibly. Committees have been formed, and he instructed the respective committees to manage the reception, presentation, stage arrangements, parade, refreshments, emergency treatment, and drinking water supply efficiently. He stressed the importance of cooperation from all departments to meaningfully celebrate the event and mandated the attendance of all department officials and staff on the day of the celebration.He also instructed departments to arrange for electrical decorations and directed that cultural programmes by students be conducted well. Overall, he urged all departments to collaborate to celebrate the Independence Day event grandly.On the morning of the event, at 9 am at Nehru Maidan in Mangaluru, district minister Dinesh Gundu Rao will hoist the flag and receive the parade salute, followed by delivering the Independence Day message. A cultural programme will follow the event, the DC said.Additional deputy commissioner Raju K, assistant commissioner Harshaverdhana SJ, and officials from various departments were present.
